THE CATHEDRAL: A huge senseless Cathedral of doom
_Lawrence Lamptey (the Scientific Socialist) writes:_
The one above which there is none, is best worshipped in our hearts. He is a spirit and must be worshipped in spirit and in truth.-Bible
The concrete problems facing citizens of a country is physical and economic. It concerns bread and butter issues.
Our approach as a people to eke a living is a physical adventure involving production and distribution.
It revolves around who owns and distributes our collective resources. A resource owned and distributed by the masses is relatively fair in distribution, compared to collective resources owned and distributed by a few greedy elements.
Physical society is moved by production; the good book urges production, the absence of which starvation must take place. Why them do we invest all our prevcious productive time in satisfying the spiritual?
The spirituality of a man is to satisfy his soul ethically and morally, and to revere and worship his maker before and after a hard days work.
Does our country of complex religious practices need a single cathedral? What would be of the Traditionalists and the Muslims? Are we not united beyond these religious experiences?
Is this the time to create religious conflicts through unfair dealings?
On the economic side: are we not the same people crying for funds to support education and the NHIS? Are we that rich to dissipate resources without thinking of prioritization? Where is the interest of the street child placed?
Don't we have churches with larger auditoriums to serve the purpose of a one-time cathedral? If a new cathedral is built, which of the practices in the diverse christian sects would be used in moderation? The Pentecostals, Methodists, Presbyterians, Roman Catholics, Anglicans and even the Awoyoo?
What is the present value of the buildings to be collapsed for this not-too useful project? Some of the properties there are less than five years old, including the renovated passport offices. How are we going to treat that as a country?
What would be the cost of demolition and the management of the debris?
What is the cost of the New planned cathedral? This can build about five 6-unit Classroom blocks for the good people of Nabdam in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
Is this cathedral not fit on any other virgin land than a place already in use by judges?
What about Dodowa, Nsawam, Amasaman, Kasoa?
Should the cathedral necessarily be in Accra, even if it is necessary to build it?
How much of state cash and time will go into the construction of new structures to house judges, the passport office, the residence of the Greater Accra Regional Minister, and a host of properties in that vicinity?
Is Karl Marx not right in describing religion as the opium of the masses? A tool fake leaders use to continue to oppress the non-suspecting poor. This is a situation where the suffering people will struggle throughout the day for a living, and after failing to make ends meet, will be told go to the catherderal to sing and dance in order for God to bless them, whilst their leaders are building their castles on earth.
What about the One District one factory promise? Maybe the catherderal is one of those factories to produce emotional healings.
Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. Our President is losing it.
CHANGE is coming...
ALUTA.
